Edward Berthoud discovered the pass in July 1861 at a height of 11,307 ft. which traverses the Continental Divide. Some say this was the first resort and lift in CO.
The now-defunct Berthoud Pass Ski Area has a cornucopia of steep and challenging terrain which experiences snowfall quite frequently. These attributes make it a hot spot for backcountry skiers, snowboarders, and snowshoers.
